Médecins Sans Frontières is one of the few humanitarian organisations working in the most violent areas of North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.Their medical units within hospitals and IDP camps perform emergency surgery on gunshot wounds, respond to epidemics such as cholera and malaria, and treat the physical and psychological injuries of sexual violence victims. They also run mobile clinics in remote areas throughout North and South Kivu. For more information on the Médecins Sans Frontières' work in the Democratic Republic of Congo, see www.condition-critical.org.
