Giving people an opportunity to give back

Have you ever been inspired by someone’s vision to make the world a better place? Did this experience compel you to spread the word amongst your colleagues, family and friends?

Ellen, one of our amazing community fundraisers, did just that and we are excited to be sharing the story with you here.

Ellen’s fundraiser was established to raise vital funds for MSF to help support the work of Dr. Nat Thurtle, the medical coordinator for MSF in Palestine, and her team, as they find themselves continuing to work in extremely challenging circumstances. Ellen knows Dr. Thurtle through her professional network and was moved by her dedication to her work in the field and her vision for providing accessible care to those who need it most.

Ellen began to have conversations with her colleagues in the medical community, particularly the Network of Women In Emergency Medicine (www.NoWEM.org) and realised that so many people want to help to raise much needed funds and often, all they need is an opportunity to do so.

The message was shared on social media (Ellen found that her Twitter network was integral to the success of the fundraiser). We asked Ellen what her top tip would be to fellow community fundraisers and this was what she shared with us:

“Don’t forget to keep your donors updated on the progress of your fundraiser as you hit particular goals and targets. It’s a wonderful way of keeping up momentum and donor engagement so I would encourage you to share all relevant updates with those who are connected to the cause.”
