While some European leaders have responded to the unprecedented influx of people fleeing war with draconian solutions – closing borders, erecting fences and making deals to send people back – countries like Turkey and Jordan cannot simply push those who are desperate and suffering back across the border into Syria. They are now home to millions of refugees living in camps with poor access to healthcare.

Earlier this year, Médecins Sans Frontières opened a clinic to provide health services to Syrian women living in Gazientep, southern Turkey. In the clinic, women are offered reproductive health services, family planning, gynaecology consultations as well medical checkups before and after they give birth.
