While people are being demonised for the most human act of seeking safety and protection, and while humanitarian aid is being prevented and penalised, more lives are being lost.
“We have decided to leave our home because of war. Be it economic, social or political problems despite our cries because we've been crying for over years that Libya is not a ground for people, but Europe pretends as if it isn’t hearing. Meanwhile in the central Mediterranean Sea, they are doing nothing to help. In Libya, they’re doing nothing to help. So... I am short of words.”
Since 2015, Médecins Sans Frontières teams have rescued and assisted more than 80,000 vulnerable people along the deadly stretch of water between Libya and Italy—one of the few remaining routes to Europe as governments across the continent have closed their borders.
We will continue to provide medical care for the most vulnerable people—no matter who they are, and no matter where they are. Please support us with a donation today.
