Jamal was 4 years old when he was burned by acid that he mistook for water.
He was left without his right eye and ear, and the burns were so severe that his neck became disconnected from his shoulder.
Jamal visited the Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman, Jordan where he underwent a number of surgical operations, most notably one to reattach his neck to his shoulder so that he can move it again.
