A humanitarian catastrophe unfolding

As a first response to address the needs of the growing numbers of Ethiopian refugees arriving in Sudan, our teams are providing healthcare and mental healthcare services.

Several refugees are shocked by the violence they have experienced or witnessed. Many have completely lost contact with their family members who remain in Tigray, Ethiopia.

In Tigray, the people are hiding in the bush, young and old. The most difficult is that we have no money, nothing to cook, no one brought anything from their home. We had to leave. I came with two pairs of trousers. Before the war started, electricity, the phone network, the banks, were all closed. I have money back there but not here.

A young Ethiopian refugee in Sudan shares his story with Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières is negotiating with local authorities to scale up our response, to bring in more medical staff and supplies. But we are only able to reach people living in these extremely challenging conditions thanks to the generosity and compassion of people like you.

You can help support our teams on the ground right now so they can continue to provide lifesaving care to this latest influx of Ethiopian refugees arriving in Sudan.
