Our Speakers

Dr Madeleine Finney-Brown

As a teenager, Madeleine decided to pursue a career in medicine because she dreamed of working as a paediatric doctor for Médecins Sans Frontières.

Throughout her years as a medical student and junior doctor, she kept this goal in sight. Whilst studying she undertook a lot of volunteering opportunities around the world including in China, Madagascar, Ghana, Uganda, Fiji, Belize! Additionally, she completed a Diploma of Tropical Medicine in Tanzania and Uganda as a junior doctor in 2015.

She loved her experience working as a junior doctor in Darwin, where she grew up, including some time spent in remote Aboriginal communities.

In 2020, Madeleine had the opportunity to undertake her first mission with MSF as a paediatric doctor in South Sudan. She describes it as the most heartbreaking, yet simultaneously rewarding and fulfilling experiences of her life.

Madeleine is currently completing her paediatric advanced training in neonatology and general paediatrics in Melbourne.
