Today marks 500 days since the war began in Sudan, and the beginning of the current—unprecedented—humanitarian crisis. 

More than 10 million people have been displaced, according to the UN, with evidence of ethnically motivated and sexual violence emerging. Severe acute malnutrition is being reported in several areas, and infectious diseases like cholera are spreading rapidly.

After over a year of violent incidents both inside and outside the Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders-supported Turkish Hospital in Khartoum, Sudan – including threats made against the lives of MSF staff – MSF has taken the decision to evacuate its team from the hospital.

Fadi is the sixth MSF staff member who has been killed in Gaza since 7 October and one of 500 health workers killed by the Israeli forces during the same time according to the United Nations.
