As of 31 May, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has hand over intervention activities in Türkiye, as the emergency response ends, following the devastating earthquakes that killed 51,000 people in the country's southeast.

Jessie Watson, a finance and HR manager from New Zealand, has worked on four assignments with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in South Sudan, Bangladesh, Yemen, and Ukraine. When not on assignment she lives in Dipton, Southland, working remotely. She spoke to us about her time on assignment with MSF.

MSF staff and patients in medical facilities in Sudan are repeatedly experiencing armed incursions, with clinics and hospitals being looted of medicines and supplies.
MSF urges the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces to ensure the safety of medical personnel and health facilities, and to allow safe passage of ambulances and people seeking healthcare.

Since 9 May 2023, a Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical and surgical team has been working in collaboration with community volunteers in Bashair Teaching Hospital in South Khartoum.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams have treated over 240 patients for trauma injuries, including wounds from gunshots and explosions. 

It is vital that more supplies and medical staff reach areas in greatest need to ensure people have access to lifesaving medical care.
