Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is working with Ukraine's Ministry of Health to treat people wounded in a deadly attack on 6 September on a marketplace in Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, as the war continues to increase medical needs in the area.

As recurrent malnutrition crises continue to affect Hadjer Lamis region in Chad, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has evolved its emergency malnutrition response, launched in September 2021, into a long-term project to address people’s pressing needs.  

Access to clean water is a major challenge for the hundreds of thousands of displaced people who have been surviving for months in makeshift camps located on the outskirts of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. Even with MSF's efforts in water treatment and distribution, the population in the camps continues to live with around five liters of water a day. Increased efforts are needed to improve the life of displaced people.

More than one million people have fled the fighting linked to the resurgence of the M23 armed group in North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Hundreds of thousands of them currently live in complete destitution in overcrowded camps in Goma and its surrounding area. 

Refugees in eastern Chad are in dire need of food, water and healthcare, with many suffering from malaria, diarrhoea and malnutrition.

Over the past three years, there has been a substantial increase in the number of children admitted to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hospitals in Yemen for measles. In the first half of 2023, the number of measles patients received in MSF-supported facilities has nearly tripled, at almost 4,000, compared to the whole of 2022.

Six years after an unprecedented exodus of the Rohingya people from Myanmar to Bangladesh, medical needs in the world's largest refugee camp remain pressing and care increasingly inadequate.   

In a global context marked by multiple large-scale humanitarian crises, international funding allocated to the humanitarian response for these one million stateless people is under increased pressure year on year.
