Is my donation tax-deductible? 

Yes. Médecins Sans Frontières is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as a Deductible Gift Recipient organisation. All donations made in Australia to Médecins Sans Frontières Australia are tax deductible.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation? 

Yes, you will. For a one-off donation you will receive an instant receipt via email. For monthly gifts, tax receipts are sent annually, towards the end of July. Please keep your address details updated so we can ensure you receive your tax receipt.

How much tax will I save? 

Your tax saving depends on your marginal tax rate. For example, if you're in the 30% tax bracket and donate $100, you can reduce your taxable income by $100 - saving approximately $30 in tax. Use the calculator above to estimate your personal saving based on your income and intended gift.

When does my donation need to be made by to claim it this financial year?

To claim a deduction in the 2025–26 financial year, your donation must be made by midnight on 30 June 2026. Donations made on or after 1 July 2026 will be deductible in the following financial year.

How do I claim my donation on my tax return?

When you lodge your tax return - through myTax, the ATO app, or a registered tax agent - include the total amount of your eligible donations in the 'Gifts or donations' section. Keep your MSF tax receipt(s) on file as supporting documentation.

What do you do with the information I put in the calculator? 

MSF Australia does not collect, store, or transmit any information entered into this calculator. The figures you input — your donation amount and income bracket — are used solely to generate your on-screen estimate. All calculations are performed locally in your browser and no data is retained once you leave the page.
