Our Finances

In 2022, Médecins Sans Frontières Australia spent 72.4 per cent of our total expenditure on our social mission—our core program activities. The rest was reinvested into fundraising and administration activities to help us raise future funds.

The 2022 income of Médecins Sans Frontières Australia and Médecins Sans Frontières New Zealand totalled $108.3 million. Of this, $100.7 million was generated from fundraising activities. 

Approximately 1127,216 Australians and New Zealanders participated in the field partner program in 2022, contributing on a monthly basis to Médecins Sans Frontières Australia and Médecins Sans Frontières New Zealand, and another 48,669 provided occasional gifts.

56.8 per cent of our spending on social mission funded programs in Africa and 35.4 per cent funded programs in Asia and Oceania.

Where you have helped

In 2022, MSF ran medical humanitarian projects in more than 70 countries. Australian and New Zealand donors supported work in 32 of those countries and the departure of 129 skilled and enthusiastic Australian and New Zealand project staff to work globally.
