WITHOUT DELAY

WITHOUT BIAS

WITHOUT RED TAPE

Doctors Without Borders - not without you.

Your support helps make our work possible.

From providing infection prevention and control in the Ebola disease outbreak, surgical care for people affected by violence in Palestine, mental health support to those enduring prolonged war in Ukraine, essential items to displaced families in places like Lebanon, to malnutrition treatment for those going hungry in Sudan, we’re there without delay.

There Without Delay

When emergencies strike, we respond quickly. No red tape. No waiting. Rapid response with specialised medical and logistical expertise — funded by people, not governments.

Aid Without Agenda

We don't take sides — we take action. Our medical ethics and principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality mean we deliver care based on need alone. We are MSF.

Support Without Fear

In Australia, we are 100 per cent privately funded. This independence means we can go where others won't, respond without political constraints, and prioritise the people who need us most.

FAQs

Who are you?

An international, independent medical humanitarian organisation founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of doctors and journalists. Today, we are a worldwide movement of over 67,000 people.

Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of professionals working in health and medical care, logistics, administration, communications, skilled trades – all bound together by our charter and serving people in need. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence, and neutrality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.

Why do you have so many names?

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to ‘doctors without borders’. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.

Where do you work?

Médecins Sans Frontières exists to save lives by providing medical aid where it is needed most – in armed conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters. All these situations call for a rapid response with specialised medical and logistical help. But, we also run longer-term projects, tackling health crises and supporting people where the need is greatest. We currently have projects running in over 70 countries.

HOW MSF USES FUNDS

71%

of our funds are used to further our social mission by providing assistance to people in distress and to victims of natural or man-made disasters.

29%

of our funds are used to responsibly manage our organisation via fundraising and administration activities that ensure we can continue to meet our operational needs.

In what ways can I donate to Medecins Sans Frontieres?
Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Médecins Sans Frontières is endorsed by the Australian Tax Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient organisation. All donations made in Australia to Médecins Sans Frontières Australia over $2 are tax deductible.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes you will. For a one-off donation you will receive an instant receipt via email. For regular gifts, tax receipts are sent annually, towards the end of July. Please keep your address details updated so we can ensure you receive your tax receipt.

Can I donate to a specific country or project?

We appreciate that some of our supporters may have a particular interest in a country or program in which we work. While in some (rare) circumstances it is possible to have your gift directed toward a specific program or country where we are currently working, we ask that you contribute unrestricted funding. By not restricting your contribution for a specific emergency or project, you will enable us to allocate our resources more efficiently and where the need is greatest.

Can I make my donation as a tribute in honour or memory of someone?

In lieu of flowers, you can arrange to honour a friend or loved one with a memorial gift to Médecins Sans Frontières. You can either set up a memorial fund in memory of a friend or loved one, or make a donation in memory of someone special. Please visit the Giving in Memory page to find out how.

Can my wedding or birthday guests donate to Médecins Sans Frontières in lieu of gifts?

Yes they can! It is a very kind and meaningful way for you to support and raise awareness of our work and we appreciate your selfless action. See our detailed information on how to organise celebration gifts for Médecins Sans Frontières.
