Activities
- Carry out perinatal management for high-risk pregnancies to reduce maternal mortality including rapid delivery (suction/forceps delivery, caesarean section), medical/surgical treatment for laxative bleeding (hysterectomy under laparotomy and sutures), abortion treatment (medicine/surgery), etc.
- Practice and supervise MSF guidelines, including maintenance and supervision of the ward and delivery room
- Guide and train locally hired staff (doctors and midwives); engage in management work (recruitment, performance evaluation, etc.)
- Submit activity reports and manage data (patient files, forms, statistics, databases, etc.)
- Manage and order pharmaceutical supplies and surgical equipment required for obstetric care
REQUIREMENTS
- Compliance with all of the essential requirements for all potential candidates
- Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (or equivalent)
- Clinical experience as a consultant with a focus on obstetrics
- Solid surgical skills (caesareans, hysterectomies, ectopic pregnancies, complicated deliveries, management of high risk pregnancies, etc.)
- Available for assignment for a minimum period between six to eight weeks, but preferably four months or longer
- Current practising certificate and must display no recent gap in clinical experience greater than two years
- Willingness to abide by Médecins Sans Frontières medical protocols
DESIRABLE
- Degree or clinical experience in tropical medicine, oncology and/or infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS)
- Competency with ultrasonography equipment
