While the ceasefire in Gaza has finally been announced, in the past months people across the Strip have continued to suffer from Israeli forces' relentless bombardments. In our clinic in Gaza City, patients who managed to escape the horror recount their experience during the siege. 

Nasser hospital, Al Aqsa hospital and European Gaza hospital are on the verge of closure due to a lack of fuel. This situation is threatening the lives of hundreds of patients, including newborns, who depend on electricity to stay alive. 

Home to approximately 7,000 Palestinians and several hundred Israeli settlers, the H2 neighbourhood of Hebron is ruled by strict movement regulations, systemic closures, and continuous violence. 

As South Sudan receives a massive influx of tens of thousands of people fleeing the intensified war in Sudan, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is scaling up its response to the humanitarian crisis in Renk and surrounding informal settlements along the border.

Following a massive displacement of approximately 80,000 people into Syria’s northeast, MSF teams are providing critical assistance and are calling for the protection of civilians to avoid further suffering.  

This collection of photos, taken between December 2023 and December 2024, features the highs and lows we, and those we assist, experience as we provide medical and humanitarian assistance in over 70 countries. They show the breaking points—such as when we had to suspend activities in Haiti’s capital—but also resilience and joy, as when we witnessed a mother meeting her baby for the first time in South Sudan. These photos show how bearing witness can create a point of connection.

As humanitarian aid entering Gaza reaches its lowest level in months, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warns that patient care is critically compromised while medical conditions linked to shortages of food, water, and shelter materials are expected to surge with the onset of winter.

After more than one year of relentless war and destruction in Gaza, MSF teams are witnessing how dire living conditions, attacks in densely populated areas, poor access to food, and repeated displacements are leading to severe health issues for Palestinian children, newborns, and mothers.

75 Australian artists have donated artworks to be auctioned online, with all proceeds from the sales going to the medical humanitarian response in Sudan run by Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
