Oncologist
Oncologists working with MSF support the planning, delivery and follow-up of cervical and breast cancer care projects. They provide clinical care, support local teams, contribute to patient-centred treatment plans, and help strengthen the quality and safety of oncology activities. They supervise and provide support to oncologists, nurses, and psychologists in the project. They ensure good collaboration with other medical services, and report on the activity of their service.
ACTIVITIES
- Provide oncology or palliative care to patients, in line with MSF protocols and local guidelines
- Support clinical decision-making for inpatient, outpatient and home-based care
- Supervise, coach and support medical and nursing teams
- Help ensure safe and good quality care for patients receiving cancer treatment
- Contribute to clear patient documentation and communication between teams
- Work closely with other services involved in cancer care, such as imaging, pathology, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and psychosocial support
- Support data collection, reporting and review of medical activities
- Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews where required
Profile requirements
Essential requirements
- Compliance with essential criteria for all potential candidates
- Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of advanced training in Medical Oncology post-qualification (have completed at least 6 years post-residency)
- Strong clinical skills
- Experience supervising, coaching or training other health professionals
- Available for assignments for 6 months
Desirable requirements
- French language skills
- Experience in palliative care
