Gaza: This is not a ceasefire
It’s been one year since the United States brokered a ceasefire in Gaza, however over the last 12 months, MSF has witnessed firsthand that the Israeli forces’ violent attacks – including airstrikes – have continued.
As of 14 September, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 1,372 Palestinians have been killed and 4,659 injured since 10 October 2025. Many of the victims are civilian women and children and these numbers continue to increase.
Due to the decimation of many parts of Palestine, the local healthcare system has collapsed.
In response, our teams are continuing to offer surgical support, wound care, physiotherapy, maternity and paediatric care, general healthcare, vaccination, and mental health services.
Since the beginning of 2026 our medical teams have treated over 60,000 trauma cases in Gaza. That includes 567 people with injuries from violent trauma in July 2026 alone, including blast injuries, burns, gunshot wounds and physical assault injuries.
As of September 2026, MSF is running or supporting health services in 13 locations across north, south and central Gaza. That includes supporting two public hospitals: Nasser and Al Helou.
Between 10 October 2025 and 13 September 2026, MSF has undertaken / assisted with the following activities:
| Total trauma cases (incl. Physical violence) | 67,911 |
| Outpatient consultations | 986,862 |
| Emergency presentations | 342,006 |
| Cases treated for diarrhoea | 29,162 |
| Total surgical procedures | 21,634 |
| Inpatient admissions (people admitted to hospital) | 40,157 |
| Total deliveries | 10,307 |
| Individual mental health sessions | 66,059 |
| Routine vaccinations | 32,251 |
As well as the direct attacks on people’s physical security, Israel’s blockade on food, water and basic necessities continues to threaten the lives of those who survive the ongoing violence.
On top of that, Israel's ‘Yellow Line’ has become a core feature of encirclement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Over the past year, Israeli forces have pushed people into an ever-shrinking, unliveable and inhumane space, while simultaneously bombing them. Nowhere is safe in Gaza.
In a bid to further help survivors, MSF has become one of the main suppliers of drinking water in the Gaza Strip. In August, our teams distributed an average of around 2.16 million litres of drinking water per day in Gaza, equivalent to the minimum daily drinking-water needs of around 359,000 people.
