As of February 2024, close to 190,000 people have been displaced in Kassala state alone, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive humanitarian assistance. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) planned a 10-week program to provide targeted medical and humanitarian aid in response to the acute emergency.

Over the past three months, the Israeli Forces’ all-out assault on the Gaza Strip has drastically diminished the options for people to find medical care. The amount of safe space for organisations to provide healthcare to people is now virtually non-existent. Constant evacuation orders and attacks on health facilities have repeatedly forced organisations such as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to evacuate hospitals and leave patients behind.

South Sudan, the youngest country in the world, experienced severe instability throughout 2022 continuing into early 2023. Eight out of its ten states were wracked by violence. This upheaval triggered extensive population displacements, predominantly in the Abyei Special Administrative Area and regions such as Twic County.
