Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams have treated over 240 patients for trauma injuries, including wounds from gunshots and explosions. 

It is vital that more supplies and medical staff reach areas in greatest need to ensure people have access to lifesaving medical care.

In Jahun, northern Nigeria, women and girls are admitted daily to the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF/Doctors Without Borders) maternity department intensive care unit with life-threatening complications in pregnancy or childbirth. Registered critical care nurse, Theophilus Tyonongu, has followed in his parents’ footsteps to bring his skills and compassion to the unit’s lifesaving work.

Gessica Fleurmond’s family knew from early on that she was destined for nursing.

Now, Gessica is a highly experienced intensive care nurse, and she and her colleagues help hundreds of trauma patients each year in Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF)’s Tabarre hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

A Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) supported hospital in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, Sudan, has been looted.

There have been reports from El Geneina of widespread looting, destruction, and burning of property, including at camps where displaced people are living. Sylvain Perron, MSF deputy operations manager for Sudan, gave the following statement today.

She was due to leave Sudan, after having been on assignment for 12 months, the day the conflict escalated, forcing her and her colleagues into a bunker.
